China has witnessed rapid development in agriculture, water conservancy, energy, transportation and other industries, which requires a large number of mechanical equipment to support their growth. With the advancement of industrialization and automation, such equipment needs to be fitted with substantial quantities of high-performance and highly reliable hydraulic, pneumatic and sealing components.

Preliminary estimates show that the total domestic demand for hydraulic, hydrostatic, pneumatic and sealing products will rise from RMB 20 billion in 2005 to approximately RMB 35 billion by 2010. Specifically, demand for hydraulic products will grow from over RMB 10 billion to RMB 20 billion; hydrostatic products from more than RMB 1 billion to over RMB 2 billion; pneumatic products from nearly RMB 3 billion to over RMB 5 billion; and sealing products from more than RMB 3 billion to RMB 7 billion.

Construction machinery represents the largest consumer of hydraulic products, accounting for 42.3% of the industry’s total sales, and this proportion is expected to expand further in the future. Forecasts indicate that by 2010, the annual demand for hydraulic excavators will reach around 60,000 to 80,000 units, loaders 100,000 to 120,000 units, motor graders approximately 2,000 units, road rollers about 15,000 units, mobile construction cranes 20,000 units and forklifts roughly 80,000 units. In addition, China currently has an installed base of around 1.4 million units of construction machinery, which is projected to hit 2 million units by 2010.

It is also reported that China imports more than USD 150 million worth of hydraulic components each year to support the domestic production of excavators, road machinery, cement mixers and other equipment. In summary, the market for hydraulic and sealing parts used in the assembly and maintenance of construction machinery is poised to enter a new era of robust growth.
